Three coaches familiar with the Husson University football program have joined the Eagles’ staff with preseason practices underway. Former Husson football players A.J. McLaughlin and Alex Cardenas, and fellow former volunteer assistant Greg Marter are returning to the program.

A Maine Principals’ Association committee decided Aug. 8 to move forward with an effort to develop an eight-player division for high school football in the state that, if approved, would be implemented in 2019.

The Maine Warden Service promoted a 25-year-veteran of the service to the position of Lieutenant on Aug. 14 in Augusta. Lieutenant Dan Menard was selected to oversee one of five Warden Service divisions based in Sidney. Lt. Menard filled a vacancy created after Lieutenant Tim Place retired a short time ago after serving more than 31 distinguished years with the Maine Warden Service.

The Center Theatre for the Performing Arts recently announced that they updated their mission statement to more clearly reflect their community work. The theatre’s updated mission is “to make arts, culture, education, and entertainment accessible to our rural communities.”

Music is my first love, but I don’t listen to music when I’m working, neither do I listen much to music while I’m driving. When I listen to music I prefer giving music my full attention. That’s true even when I listen to music while sleeping. I focus my attention on one instrument, block out the rest, and I’m soon asleep.
