More than 20 HERO honorees in kindergarten through grade 4 at Piscataquis Community Elementary School in Guilford were recognized during the June 1 morning meeting. Students are selected for exhibiting honesty, effort, respect or responsibility and/or showing concern and caring for others.

Penquis Valley High School junior Cymeria Robshaw won a pair of jumps and came in third in the 100 at the 2018 Class C Outdoor Track and Field Championships on June 2 at Massabesic High School in Waterboro.

The Caribou High School Vikings boys tennis team forged into the regional championship with dominating performances in the semifinals. The Caribou squad rolled to an easy victories on Saturday, with the matches being played at the Caribou High School tennis courts on a cool and windy day. The No. 2 seeded Caribou boys stopped Foxcroft Academy by a 5-0 score.

This week the SAD 41 community lost a valued board member and friend. Sheila Ellis passed away on May 31 after a battle with cancer. Sheila was a long-time member of the SAD 41 Board of Directors. She began her service on the board in April of 2008 and remained a member until the day she died.
