Off-year elections -- even high profile contests -- aren’t always reliable predictors of things to come. But election results in Kentucky, Louisiana and Virginia confirm a lesson that we learned in Maine in 2017: The No. 1 issue in the mind of voters is health care.

The 2019 high school football season ended with teams from southern Maine dominating postseason play. While the South swept this year’s state finals, it was a better year statewide than others of recent vintage thanks to tiered scheduling and the implementation of an eight-player division.

U.S. Sen. The Hon. Kevin Stitham of Dover-Foxcroft has been nominated for reappointment to the Maine District Court for his fourth term. The Hon. Stitham was first sworn in on Sept. 2, 1998 and previously practiced law in Piscataquis County for over 20 years.

The Harlem Wizards will be coming to Dexter Regional High School for a game at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14 in the gymnasium. This is going to be a fun and entertaining evening of basketball tricks and jokes alike, and it would make for a great family night out. The Wizards will be playing against some favorite high school and Ridge View Community School staff and coaches.

The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is a women’s service organization whose members can trace their lineage to an individual who contributed to securing American independence during the Revolutionary War. More than one million total members have now joined the organization since its founding in 1890.

Sportsmen love their toys. Of course, they prefer to consider these toys as indispensable tools for the outdoors. Sometimes the best gift one can give to an outdoorsman or woman is a tool or device that he or she might not either think to buy for themselves or feel comfortable buying.
