Kermit N. Kronholm

PENACOOK, NH: Kermit N. Kronholm died Thursday, November 10th at Concord Hospital after a period of failing health. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his death. Kermit was born on May 1, 1936 to Ellery and Mapel (Bickford) Kronholm in Monson, ME. Kermit grew up in Monson, attended local schools. After graduation from Monson Academy, he joined the United States Army. He resided in Penacook for the past 56 years.
Kermit retired as a Chief Warrant Officer after serving in the United States Army for 30 years. After retiring from the Army, Kermit worked as a school bus driver for the Merrimack Valley School District. He also worked at Fox’s Ace Hardware and operated his own shop, Kerm’s Small Engine Repair.
Kermit was a member of American Legion Post 116 in Monson. He and his first wife, Sandra, were active in the Boy Scouts of America, and he served as a troop leader for many years. Kermit had many hobbies and passions, including spending time at his camp on Monson Pond in Monson, bowling, fishing, and hunting. Kermit was an avid sports fan, loyal to the end to the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
Kermit is predeceased by his parents, and by his first wife of 43 years, Sandra Kronholm, who died in 1999, He is survived by his dear wife of 14 years, Linda (Masson) Kronholm of Penacook, NH; his brother Edward of Phoenix, AZ; his son Jeff Kronholm and his wife Doreen of Boscawen, NH and their child Thomas Splett III; his daughter Amy Lavigne if Franklin, NH and Amy’s children, Dustin Russell, Andrea Russell, and Abby Lavigne; his cousin Collin Walles and his partner Joanne Brooke of Elliottsville, his step-daughter Lisa Davenport and her husband, George, and their son, Ben of Stoddard, NH; his step-son Michael Wagner of Deering, NH and his children Kyle Wagner and Sara Eblen; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Gina and Doug Beach of Landon, NH; his dearest friends Rick and Nancy Kelly and all of their children and grandchildren; and finally the “boys” who came to Maine each summer to go rafting.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 16th, 2016 from 4:00-7:00pm at Wendell J. Butt Funeral Home, 42 Washington St., Penacook, NH 03303. There will be a graveside service for Kermit, with full military honors, on Friday, November 18th at 10:00am at the Hillside Cemetery in his beloved Monson.
