Northern Light Health hosts National Food Day across the state for foodies in our communities

BREWER — If there’s one undeniable truth about food, it’s that it’s best when shared. We pass down family recipes, we gather and laugh over a good meal, and we make favorite dishes for our loved ones during trying times and moments of celebration.

“Food brings people and communities together,” Marwa Hassanien, PhD, associate vice president, Community Engagement & Belonging, said. “Not only does food nourish our friends, family and neighbors, it connects us all.”

This year, Northern Light Health is celebrating National Food Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22 across the state. This year’s theme is “A Harvest of Cultures” with the intent to bring together employees and community members alike, encouraging them to try something new and delicious, enjoy a conversation over a meal and celebrate our cultures.

Hosted by Northern Light Health’s Celebrating Our Communities Through Food Committee, this event will take place at each Northern Light Health hospital across the state. Some of the menu items will include a Jamaican jerk pork burger, grilled bratwurst and doner kebab. Though some menu items will be available at all locations, some may vary.

Join us on Thursday at any Northern Light Health café from Portland to Presque Isle for this celebration of food and culture.
