Sangerville officials working on budget for town meeting
SANGERVILLE — Sangerville officials will be meeting with the budget committee to come up with a preliminary 2026-27 spending plan to take to the annual town meeting in late March.
In an update on the town Facebook page, Interim Town Manager/Town Clerk Michelle Nichols said she and the select board are working on town reports and these will hopefully be sent to the printers by Feb. 27.
Select Chair Jeff Peters plans to be at the budget committee meetings, he said during a Feb. 9 select board meeting.
“I think it’s appropriate for us (he and Select Vice Chair Mike Gould) to be there and just hear the conversation because ultimately we are part of the conversation,” Peters said.
In other business, Nichols said she reached out to neighboring Dover-Foxcroft to look into using this town’s transfer station. Currently Sangerville is one of eight communities in the Mid-Maine Solid Waste Association, which has a facility in Corinna near the Dexter town line.
Fire Chief Matt Blockler discussed a legal notice for the fire department concerning its application to the Maine Board of Emergency Medical Services for a license to operate a non-transporting emergency medical service.
The ad, which ran in the Feb. 13 edition of the Bangor Daily News, says Maine EMS invites public comments on the application within 30 days of the notice publication date.
“That way it won’t hold us up when we’re ready to move forward,” Blockler said.
