FOURTH OF JULY IN SEBEC — Once again Sebec will celebrate America’s birthday with activities in the village. The parade starts at 9:30 a.m. and will feature Sebec’s own Mrs. Maine America 2014 Liza Smith as the parade marshal.

Registration for the road race opens at 7 a.m. and the cost is $15. The race begins at the bridge in “downtown” Sebec and the course is usually marked.
There will be lots of raffle prizes after the race, so participants are urged to stick around after the event is over.
Walkers, strollers and even dogs are welcome.
Just play it safe with your surrounding participants, be aware of tires on strollers and leashes on dogs. The pavement is quite uneven so please be extra cautious with your footing.
For more details, visit the Sebec Village 4th of July 5K page on Facebook.
The USCA sanctioned canoe race will begin at 10:30 a.m. and the world’s most delicious chicken barbecue will be served from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Hot dogs will be on sale, too, and there will be an assortment of sides to accompany the chicken. Baked goods and ice cold drinks will be available all day long.
There will be a variety of activities available for children including pony rides, and there will be raffle items as well.
New this year: the Sebec Village Associates will randomly give away two certificates for a future free meal.
All proceeds from the 4th of July celebration will assist the Sebec Village Associates in upgrading the electrical service in the Reading Room as part of improving the heating system.
Also, mark your calendars for the third annual silent auction and all-you-can-eat breakfast on Saturday, Aug. 16.
