GFWC MIOSAC Club begins the new club year
DOVER-FOXCROFT — After the summer hiatus, the GFWC MIOSAC Club has resumed its meetings, and there was plenty of catching up to do! With nine members and one guest in attendance, everyone enjoyed the opportunity to reconnect and share news.
Continuing a time-honored tradition, the club kicked off the new year at Thayer Parkway with its annual “Souper Supper.” Each of the three advisory committee members prepared a pot of piping-hot soup for everyone to enjoy. Sharing a delicious meal, breaking bread together, and renewing friendships made for a delightful start to another year of fellowship and service.

CLUB DONATIONS — Members of the GFWC MIOSAC Club donated items to Partners for Peace for the GFWC International Day of Service with a focus of “End Domestic and Sexual Violence.” From left, Anne Cress, Diane Leighton, Roxy McGlauflin, Betsey Ryan and Brenda Quiet.
After dinner, the group discussed the 2026-27 yearbook which had been handed out. Conversation surrounded upcoming plans and projects, such as continuing to support the Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis’s Christmas Giving Program, collecting new or gently used blankets for the Maine Veteran’s Project in November in Bangor and rolling out the bi-annual fundraiser – GFWC MIOSAC Club’s Area Business Directory.
At this meeting, members brought items to donate to Partners for Peace for the GFWC International Day of Service with a focus of “End Domestic and Sexual Violence.” A few days later, the club’s donations were delivered to Melissa Doore, Partners for Peace transitional housing case manager, who gratefully acknowledged the members’ generosity and support.
Women ages 18 and older who are interested in doing community service, making new friends and offering fresh ideas are always welcome. For more information, call 207-717-4139.
