Upcoming events in Dexter

DEXTER — Several happenings are scheduled in and around Dexter for the next month and a half.

An American Legion Pouliot-Seavey Post 53 Touch a Truck event will be in the municipal parking lot, behind Bangor Savings Bank, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3. The Dexter Town Council authorized the closure of the lot during a Sept. 10 council meeting.

When asked by Council Chair Marcia Delaware, Town Manager Trampas King said there woud be no fee for the American Legion to use the closed parking lot.

In his report, King mentioned several other events.

“Cody’s Car Show” is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20 at the Ridge View Community School, benefiting Cody Irish and family after a recent cancer diagnosis.

Maine Highlands Federal Credit Union’s Community Fall Festival will celebrate 60 years for the credit union from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26 at the Piscataquis Valley Fairgrounds in Dover-Foxcroft. Entry is free but attendees are asked to bring a donation for the Maine Credit Unions Campaign for Ending Hunger.

The town is planning a Halloween celebration for the day of the holiday in the municipal parking lot. King said the time would be around 2-4:30 p.m. to allow the children to go trick or treating afterwards.
