Worthington Scholarship Foundation welcomes over 1,000 new Worthington Scholars

The Worthington Scholarship Foundation is pleased to announce that more than 1,000 Maine high school graduates have received the 2026 Worthington Scholarship.

Founded by Beverly and the late David Worthington, the scholarships empowers Maine students not only to begin college, but to succeed and graduate. Each recipient will receive up to $20,000 to attend one of the Worthington Scholarship Foundation’s 24 partner colleges in Maine, representing a total investment of $20 million in this year’s cohort.

Area honorees are Foxcroft Academy: Emma Alden, Alexis Burdin, Noa Clark, Addie Day, Adriana Guthrie, Ashlyn Mageau, Lillian Makowski, Lennon McAfee, Addison Menz, Kinley Myers, Liam Reardon, Haley Salisbury and Daniel Turgeon.

Penquis Valley High School: Brooklyn Decker and Amara Driscoll.

Piscataquis Community High School: Audrey Chadbourne, Brady Gaw, Ava Goulette, Alexander Hall, Noah Kain, Zoe McInnis and Landon McKenney.

“We want to give a huge welcome to the students selected for this year’s Worthington Scholarship. They earned this opportunity through hard work and grit, and we are proud to play a significant role in helping them reach their higher education goals,” Julie Bourgoin, president of the Worthington Scholarship Foundation, said

In addition to financial support, each scholar is paired with a scholar advocate who connects them with on-campus resources and provides support throughout college.

“Our scholars show the resilience and determination that reflects the very spirit of Maine,” Beverly Worthington said. “Supporting such brilliant Maine students over the past 16 years has been an honor, and I look forward to following this year’s scholars throughout their college journeys. There is no doubt these scholars will be the driving force behind Maine’s economic growth.”
