Fresh produce and mobile mammograms in Milo

MILO — Northern Light Primary Care, Milo, located at 135 Park St., welcomes the community to stop by the health center on Wednesday, Aug. 26 for two activities to improve health and wellness in one stop.

The health center will join the University of Maine Cooperative Extension in Piscataquis County and the Piscataquis Regional Food Center to hold a free Produce Pop-Up Market from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Individuals and families can pick up healthy food for the dinner table, and free Fuel for Fun Snack Bags will be available for kids.

Attendees are asked to bring reusable bags, if available. Food for the pop-up produce market is provided by the Piscataquis Regional Food Center.

Maine’s only mobile mammography unit will be on site throughout the morning and early afternoon to provide scheduled and walk-in mammograms. Northern Light Mobile Mammography is spacious, temperature controlled and has the latest 3D technology, just like a hospital-based mammography service. Mammograms are recommended for most women beginning at age 40 because early detection allows treatment to begin sooner when cancer is easier to treat. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 207-564-4353 and walk-in mammograms are available between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

For more information, please call Northern Light Primary Care, Milo at 207-943-7752.
