Dunlap for rural Maine

To the Editor;

In Piscataquis County, folks are stretched to the limit by rising electricity bills, high home heating costs, and underfunded rural infrastructure. Paul LePage’s policies shifted tax burdens onto local communities, leaving my neighbors and me in the poorest county in Maine while benefiting those at the top; policies we have yet to recover from.

We need a congressman who actually understands rural working-class struggles. Matt Dunlap is that leader. As a pastor, gun owner, and elected official, I value someone who stands up for our First and Second Amendment rights while prioritizing real economic relief for rural Mainers.

People often measure a candidate by whether they’re someone you could sit down and have a beer with. Matt is that guy — though he’d probably insist on spending the day hunting with you first, and then offer to help field-dress your deer. Meanwhile, if you want to have a beer with LePage, you’d have to buy a plane ticket to Florida. That’s not who we need fighting for Maine in Washington.

We need someone of rural Maine, by rural Maine, for rural Maine. Matt Dunlap is rural Maine.
