Penquis Valley spring athletic honors
MILO — The Penquis Valley School announced spring athletic honors, doing so on the Penquis Valley Athletics Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/PenquisValleyAthletics).
The Murrel Harris Athlete of the Year Award is given annually at graduation to a female and male senior student-athlete. This award is given in honor of Harris for his years as recreation director in Milo and coach of the Penquis Valley High School baseball. Harris had a passion for working with students and loved helping them develop their athletic careers.
This year’s winners are Brooklyn Decker and Wyatt Romero.
The Henry A. Heal Sportsmanship Award is made each year to that athlete who has given generously of his/her time and effort to the team and school. In recognition of leadership, dependability, sportsmanship and team play.
This year’s recipient is Amara Driscoll.
The Carroll A. Conley award is presented annually at graduation. Emblematic of the lessons taught by Conley, he facilitated personal growth through the emphasis of teamwork and commitment to common goals. The players whom he coached learned to truly respect the individuality of their own teammates as well as opposing players, coaches and officials.
The recipient of this award shall be a student-athlete from the senior class who has best demonstrated the qualities which Conley stood for.
This year’s recipient is Michael Coburn.
The Penquis League middle school athletic conference gives a scholar–athlete award annually. Each year, one male and one female from each school in the conference are recognized for their academic, athletic and citizenship accomplishments. Award recipients are at, or near, the top of their class academically, they participate in athletics and they are solid citizens.
The award winners are Rylee McMahon and Landon Badger.
