Gaw is a ‘Mr. Baseball’ finalist
Recent Piscataquis Community High School graduate Brady Gaw, who played for the Dexter Regional High School/PCHS cooperative team, is one of nine “Mr. Baseball” Dr. John Winkin Award finalists recognizing the top senior baseball players across the state.
Gaw was a pitcher and shortstop of the Tigers, who reached the Class C North championship a year ago and this year advanced to the regional semifinal round. The honor recognizes the top senior baseball player in Maine and is not only for athletic ability, but also leadership, character and dedication to the game.

TOP SENIOR — Dexter/PCHS’ Brady Gaw led off the 2025 Class C North championship against Washington Academy at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor as he and Raider catcher Daniel Gardner await the pitch. Gaw is one of nine finalists for the 2026 “Mr. Baseball” Dr. John Winkin Award.
The award is named for the longtime University of Maine and Husson University baseball coach.
The other eight finalists are Hudson Iacuessa of South Portland High School, Alex Allain of Fryeburg Academy, Trot Moody of Old Orchard Beach High School, Denny Martin of Messalonskee High School, Parker Morin of Cony High School, Collin Sullivan of Mt Desert Island High School, Jackson Barry of Ellsworth High School and Calvin Richardson of Katahdin High School.
The award winner will be announced at the Ed Flaherty Classic Senior All-Star Games played on Tuesday, June 23 at St. Joseph’s College in Standish at approximately 6:30 p.m. after the Class A & B senior rosters are announced. The Class C & D all-star game will be played prior to, starting at 3:30 p.m. that day.
