Author Tess Gerritsen to visit Thompson Free Library

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Thompson Free Library, located at 186 East Main St., is pleased to announce that Tess Gerritsen will be speaking at the library at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 4. The event is free and open to the public.

Internationally bestselling author Gerritsen, who resides on the midcoast, took an unusual route to being an author. She started as a physician and it was while on maternity leave that she began to focus on her writing career, which has now spanned almost 40 years and 35 books.

Her books have been translated into 40 languages, and more than 40 million copies have been sold around the world. She has won both the Nero Wolfe Award and the Rita Award. Time Magazine named her novel “The Surgeon” one of the best mystery/thriller novels ever written.

Gerritsen’s series of novels featuring homicide detective Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles inspired the hit TNT television series “Rizzoli & Isles” starring Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander.
