PCHS track picks up five first-place performances

HAMPDEN — The Piscataquis Community High School girls outdoor track & field team scored 96 points to finish third among four schools at a May 1 Penobscot Valley Conference meet at Hampden Academy.

Pirate senior Ava Goulette won both the shot put and discus. Goulette’s shot put throw of 34 feet, 5.75 inches was the best of the competition as was her discus distance measuring 110-00.

Goulette also anchored the PCHS 4×400 relay team which was third among point-scoring squads, sixth overall. Sophomores Ella Zeller and Lilly Boutilier, freshman Reagan Rollins and Goulette combined for a time of 5 minutes, 48.3 seconds.

Senior Sadie Kelley had the top girls time in the 1,600 racewalk. She finished first in 9:41.99, more than two and a minutes ahead of the 12:29.30 for Hampden senior Isabella Pecze.

Sophomore Ava Edes earned top honors in the high jump as she cleared the bar at 4-10, two inches higher than the 4-08 for Hampden senior Lilly Tripp. Pirate sophomore Macie Littlefield was third in the event at 4-04.

Edes also came in fifth in the 300 hurdles with her time of 58.37 seconds.

Zeller placed second in both the shot put and discus with respective throws of 26-10.50 and 75-09.

Sophomore Savanna Wood was fifth in the shot put at 24-06. In the discus Boutilier and junior Oliva Goodwin were fourth and fifth at 68-01.50 and 67-07.50.

PCHS had three top five javelin throws: senior Molly Goodwin, second at 91-04; Olivia Goodwin, fourth at 85-05; and Rollins, fifth at 84-02. 

Molly Goodwin also came in fourth in the triple jump at 28-02.75.

The Pirate boys scored 25 points to end the day in fourth place out of a field of five teams.

Junior Phoenix Brown had the top triple jump performance. He landed a distance of 37-08.50, just ahead of the 37-06 for Central High School of Corinth senior Connor Ladd.

Sophomore Oliver Luckovskis came in second in the 800 in a time of 2:10.81. He was also sixth in the discus at 91-06.

Freshman Elijah Polley placed third in the 110 hurdles with a time of 21.63 seconds.
