Penquis’ Decker wins shot put
OLD TOWN — Penquis Valley High School’s Brooklyn Decker earned top honors in the girls shot put in the Patriot outdoor track & field team’s first meet of the season on April 25 at Old Town High School.
Penquis finished the Penobscot Valley Conference competition with a score of 23 points to place fifth among a field of 10 schools.
In the shot put Decker attained a distance of 29 feet, 10.5 finishes to give her first place. Decker was 1-04.5 ahead of the 28-06 throw for runner-up Breanna Burlock of Presque Isle High School.
Decker also came in fourth in the discus with a toss measuring 84 feet.
Amara Driscoll had a fourth-place javelin throw at 88-10. Decker was sixth in the event at 75-04.
Ashley Ladd placed fourth in the 400 with her time of 1:09.58.
The Penquis boys had four points to place 10th among 10 teams.
Ethan Lewis picked up the four points in the 400 as he ran a time of 1:00.18.
