Free summer camp and swim lessons at Dexter Beach

DEXTER — The Piscataquis Area Community Center and the Dexter Development Association are excited to offer two free youth programs at Dexter Beach this summer, providing children with opportunities to stay active, build confidence in the water and enjoy the outdoors. These programs are being offered in partnership with Bill and Joan Alfind, along with their children Justin, Kenden and Reis.

A free summer day camp for kids entering grades 2-4 will run Monday through Friday from 12:30–3:30 p.m. from July 6–17. The camp will include beach activities, games, outdoor recreation and supervised swimming in a safe, supportive environment. Transportation from the Ridge View Community School Summer Program to Dexter Beach is available for children enrolled in that school program.

In addition, free swim lessons for children entering grades 2-6 will be offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30–1:30 p.m. from July 7–30. These lessons are open to all children, regardless of where they live and focus on water safety, skill development and confidence building. Participants enrolled in swim lessons may also transition into the afternoon camp program if they choose to register for both.

These programs are part of PACC and the DDA’s commitment to improving water safety and expanding access to healthy recreation for families in our rural community.

Space is limited and advance registration is encouraged. For more information or to sign up, contact the Piscataquis Area Community Center at 207-564-1303 or manda@paccmaine.com.
