News from the PACC

By Minnie McCormick

I try to swim five days a week. It’s great to see the same people every day and new ones keep appearing. We enjoy the little child whose parents are teaching him about the water. He knows it all!

I enjoy chatting with the lifeguards and finding out what the young ones are planning for the future and encouraging them to continue on with their education. Never too late to learn.

One former guard is now teaching. At least four of the previous guards are in some type of further schooling: business, electrician, plumber, salesman, etc. If it were not for the pool, I wouldn’t be able to do that! Many thanks to Manda and crew for getting the pool all fixed up with pretty colors. An artist (Tracey Padron) is painting murals on the walls!

I am also teaching craft classes once a month.

Seeing the excitement of the second graders coming for lessons — helping each other and chatting excitedly. The swim program is a wonderful thing!

Until next time. Have a safe week.
