Dexter cheer finishes fourth at Class C North championship
SANFORD — The Dexter Regional High School cheer team finished fourth at the 2026 Class C North championship on Saturday, Jan. 31 at Sanford High School. The Tigers earned one of the eight spots for the Class C championship, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Augusta Civic Center — time to be announced.
The Tigers earned a score of 50.8 points to place fourth among 10 Class C North schools.

The Houlton High School/Greater Houlton Christian Academy cooperative team won its third straight regional title with 69.55 points, ahead of the 67.6 points for Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln and 54.4 points for third place Central High School of Corinth.
The other four teams earning state bids from Class C North are Penobscot Valley High School of Howland, Lee Academy, Central Aroostook High School of Mars Hill and Narraguagus High School of Harrington.
The top eight from Class C South are Lisbon High School/Hebron Academy, Bucksport High School, Winslow High School, Orono High School, Monmouth Academy, Dirigo High School of Dixfield, Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield and Oak Hill High School of Wales.
Last year and in 2023 Dexter finished second at the regional finals.
