Three graduate from certified nursing assistant course

Northern Light CA Dean and Mayo Hospitals are pleased to announce that Jacob Beckwith, Tina Bell and Karen Keene recently graduated from the hospitals’ certified nursing assistant training program. The graduates were recognized at a ceremony held on Sept. 11 at Mayo Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft.

“Graduating from this course isn’t just the end of class, it’s the beginning of a calling to care and to make a difference, one patient at a time,” says Nikki Chadwick, RN, MSN, CPHQ, vice president of Education and Preparedness, Northern Light CA Dean, Mayo and Sebasticook Valley Hospitals. “It’s also a great first step to becoming a registered nurse or pursuing other clinical positions in healthcare, for those who are interested. We’re proud of our graduates for completing the course — it’s a lot of information to learn in a short period of time and they did a great job.”

Certified nursing assistants provide care under the supervision of a registered nurse. An essential part of the care team, CNAs help patients with basic needs including eating and drinking, bathing, repositioning in bed, observing vital signs and more.

Program graduates will take the state CNA exam and transition into employment at the Piscataquis County hospitals.
