support efforts that strengthen families and build safer, healthier communities. As part of this initiative, the Penquis Prevention Council is hosting Project Play, a no-cost, family-friendly event focused on fun, learning and community connection.
Project Play will occur on Sunday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Piscataquis County Ice Arena in Dover-Foxcroft. Families are invited to enjoy various engaging activities, including a bounce house, a touch-a-truck experience and interactive booths from over 30 organizations and programs offering valuable family resources and children’s activities.
“This event is all about celebrating families and providing a space where parents and caregivers can connect with resources while kids of all ages enjoy a fun-filled day,” said Christine McMillen, Prevention Council, project manager at Penquis. “Last year, approximately 600 people enjoyed this event, and we are looking forward to another great turnout.”
Project Play will also feature Darling’s Ice Cream Truck and a free BBQ hosted by Shaw’s Supermarket, adding to the day’s festivities.
The Penquis Prevention Council works year-round to support parents and caregivers through education, resources, and connections that help families thrive. Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month is an important reminder of the role communities play in ensuring children grow up in safe and nurturing environments.
