Stand with Ukraine

To the Editor;

I stand with Ukraine and President Volodymyr Zelensky. The whole world knows that Russia invaded Crimea and Eastern Ukraine in 2014. Then three years ago Putin sent a column of tanks towards Kyiv in a failed attempt to take the capital of Ukraine. This was followed by a steady, attempted destruction of the whole country, including several probable war crimes.

Zelensky and the Ukrainian people have heroically fought back. For President Donald Trump to again lie, in calling Zelensky a dictator who started this war, is another of his many attempts to rewrite history. The U.S. aid given to Ukraine had no strings attached. Trump demanding repayment in the form of rare earth minerals, is not in America’s best tradition of being an unselfish benefactor to other countries needing assistance. For the U.S. president and vice president (neither of whom can match the character and integrity of Zelensky) to treat a hero the way they did Friday, Feb. 28 is another low point in American history.
