Penquis’ Williams finishes second in 55-meter finals

ORONO — Penquis Valley High School junior Jareth Williams had the second fastest time in the 55 meters at a Penobscot Valley Conference/Eastern Maine Indoor Track League meet on Saturday, Feb. 1 at the University of Maine’s New Balance Field House.

In the 55-meter finals Williams ran a time of 6.96 seconds to place second overall. He accounted for eight of the 14 Patriot points, putting Penquis sixth among a field of eight point-scoring schools.

Penquis senior Lucas Chai came in third in the triple jump at a distance of 38 feet, 7 inches.

Foxcroft Academy senior Jaxson Zimmerman had a fifth-place throw in the shot put at 37-11.25.

Zimmerman’s two points put Foxcroft in eighth place.

In the girls meet Penquis was seventh among seven teams picking up points with two.

Patriot senior Kayla Hatt finished fifth in the mile with her time of 6:47.90.
