Author event was a celebration of community and the arts

To the Editor;

Jan Brett’s visit to the Center Theatre at the invitation of the Thompson Free Library was a warm and welcoming event and an example of the power of the arts to bring people together. Readers of all ages gathered on the evening of Nov. 30 to hear Brett talk about her newest book “Alice in a Winter Wonderland”.

Families lined Main Street as Brett’s bus pulled up in front of the Theatre, and Hedgie the Hedgehog emerged to greet everyone to this special event. It was a spectacular celebration of children’s literature and illustration and just as importantly, the community institutions that provide access to the arts.

I was overwhelmed with gratitude for the Thompson Free Library and  Center Theatre and their staff and volunteers for their leadership and dedication to our community. Dover-Foxcroft was one of two Maine towns to host Brett on her nationwide tour! At this time of thanksgiving, I am thankful for the Center Theatre and the Thompson Free Library and all those who created this opportunity to gather and celebrate the arts.
