GFWC Miosac Club news

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The GFWC Miosac Club held its latest meeting on April 16, with President Minnie McCormick presiding. She thanked program Chair Suzanne Raymond and hostesses Diane Leighton and Laurie Ducat.

The Club Collect, Pledge of Allegiance, and American’s Creed were led by Vickie Parsons.

Leighton took roll call 12 and read the secretary’s report which will be filled. Report of the recent art show with nine members attending was given. Chair Lorna Holman handled it like a pro! Kathy Dyer did a great job arranging the refreshments consisting of cookies and punch.

Treasurer’s report by Raymond was read, approved, and filed. A proposed budget was accepted.

Betsey Ryan read a card from Dr. and Mrs. McDermott showing appreciation for the work the club does in the community.

Anne Cress and Laurie Ducat handed out invitations to the Club’s annual birthday party. This will be the Club’s 88th year since Organized and Federated (1936). It will take place on May 21 at Bear Point Marina in Bowerbank.

Brenda Quiet announced the annual meeting which will be held May 7 – bring bagged supper.  Hostesses Vickie Parsons and Betsey Ryan will provide refreshments.

Raymond requested helpers to do the pinwheel garden with her on April 17 at the United Methodist Church in Dover-Foxcroft. This is done in recognition of Prevent Child Abuse Month. Blue pinwheels are “planted” in front of the church. 

Advisory committee members Kathy Dyer and Roxy McGlauflin passed around a sign up sheet for meetings to volunteer as program chairs and hostesses.

The meeting was adjourned and Raymond proceeded with her program entitled “Fund Raising, Oh My. ” You can personally gain from performing helpfulness in your communities. For instance the joy of giving, gaining new skills, getting to know each other better, and lifelong friendships will develop.

Refreshments were then served.
