Dexter boys track finishes fifth in Old Town

OLD TOWN — The Dexter Regional High School boys outdoor track and field team began the 2024 season by placing fifth among a field of 11 teams at Old Town High School on April 19. The Tigers scored 38.5 points.

Dexter freshman Tristan Hopkins-Watrous had a pair of individual third-place performances. He came in third in the 100 meters in a time of 12.36 seconds and was third in the 110 hurdles at 19.50 seconds.

Hopkins-Watrous also anchored the fourth-place 4×100 relay as sophomores Bryce Cooper, Tanner Ladd, and Damiair Miller and Hopkins-Watrous combined for a time of 49.64 seconds.

Miller had a third-place distance in the triple jump at a distance of 38 feet, 0.75 inches. He also finished fifth in the high jump at 5-02.

Sophomore Brady Jerome came in third in the discus at 102-09 and he was fifth in the shot put at 37-05.

Cooper scored points in the three jumps. He placed fourth in the long jump at 17-09.50, was fifth in the triple jump at 33-06, and tied for sixth in the high jump at 5-02.

Piscataquis Community High School ended the day in 10th place with a score of four points.

Pirate sophomore Chase Kilian’s time of 58.58 seconds in the 300 hurdles put him in fourth place.

In the girls’ meet, PCHS placed eighth among 10 teams with 29 points.

Sophomore Jazmin Channon finished as the 200 meter runner-up with her time of 29.53 seconds. Channon also came in fourth in the 100 at 14.10 seconds and was sixth in both the 300 hurdles at 58.99 seconds and the long jump at 13-10.25.

Sophomore Sadie Kelley placed third in the 1,600 race walk with her time of 10:38.57.

Freshman Olivia Goodwin and sophomore Molly Goodwin were fourth and fifth in the javelin with respective throws of 81-11 and 77-05. Molly Goodwin also came in sixth in the 800 at 3:11.85.

Senior Tiare Channon had a fifth-place performance in the 200 at 31.01 seconds.

The Dexter girls finished 10th in Old Town with one point.

Tiger freshman Brookelin Dorman’s distance of 26-06 placed her sixth in the triple jump.
