Foxcroft boys track finishes third at season opener

BREWER — The Foxcroft Academy outdoor track and field team began the 2024 season with a Penobscot Valley Conference meet hosted by Brewer High School at the Brewer Community School on April 17. The Pony boys finished the day with a score of 105 points to place third among a field of eight schools recording points.

The Ponies’ Conner Donhue had a hand in 30 of his team’s points. Donahue had the meet’s top performance in the long jump at 19 feet, 6 inches. He also anchored the second-place 4×100 relay as Hunter McSorley, Landon Smith, Eamon Vandermast, and Donahue combined for a time of 49.56 seconds. Donahue placed third in both the 100 meters and triple jump at 11.87 seconds and 38-03.

Jack Kingsbury won the 110 hurdles in 17.19 seconds. He also opened the second-place 4×400 relay as Kingsbury, Hwken Hall, Terry Pham, and Zachary Peirce ran a time of 3:59.27. Kinsbury was third in the long jump at 18-08, and he was fifth in the high jump at 5-06.

Jackson Smith came in first in the high jump as he cleared the bar at 5–10. He also finished fifth in the triple jump at 36-01.50.

Runner and Pace Jarrett had second- and third-place performances in the 3,200 with respective times of 11:31.12 and 11:43.17. Runner and Pace Jarrett were also third and sixth in the 1,600 at 5:14.07 and 5:21.03.

Foxcroft also had third-place finishes from Peirce in the 800 at 2:24.24 and Hall in the 300 hurdles at 47.80 seconds.

Vandermast was fifth in the long jump at 18-02, and McSorley came in fifth in the shot put at 41-11.50.

In the girls’ meet, Foxcroft finished fifth among nine teams with a score of 39 points.

Marion Deitz earned top honors in the high jump with her height of 4-08. She also opened the second-place 4×100 relay as Deitz, Paige Weidman, Ingrid Berling, and Alexis Heretaksi combined for a time of 57.39 seconds.

Heretakis placed in three individual sprints. She was third in the 200 and 400 at 29.51 seconds and 1:12.96 and came in fourth in the 100 at 13.93 seconds. She also was fifth in the long jump at 13-07.25.

Berling finished third in the 400 with her time of 1:12.96. She also was sixth in the 100 at 14.29 seconds.

Jasmine Hall added a fifth-place throw in the shot put at 26-09.

The Greenville High School girls were ninth at Brewer with one point.

The Lakers’ Justyce Hall came in sixth in the 400 in 1:23.88.
