Woman airlifted to Bangor hospital after collision with logging truck

LONG POND TOWNSHIP — A woman was airlifted to a Bangor hospital on Tuesday morning, April 9  after she collided with a logging truck near Jackman.

The woman was driving on Route 15 in Long Pond Township about 8 a.m. when she crossed into the oncoming lane and struck the logging truck, according to the Waterville Morning Sentinel.

It was a “lengthy process” for rescuers to free her from the wreckage, Bill Jarvis, chief of the Jackman-Moose River Fire and Rescue Department, told the Sentinel.

She was seriously injured in the crash and was flown to a Bangor hospital, according to the newspaper.

The logging truck driver wasn’t injured.

The crash remains under investigation.

Long Pond Township is in the Unorganized Territory east of Jackman in Somerset County.
