GFWC/Miosac Club news

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The GFWC/Miosac Club met March 5 with 13 members present. One member was reported ill. A moment of silence was held for associate member Martha Rollins, who recently passed. McCormick then read a tribute to her and members sang one verse of “In The Garden”.

Roxy McGlauflin led the Collect, Pledge of Allegiance, and the American’s Creed. Vicki Moschella and Barb Austin as hostesses.

Brenda Quiet reported on our project with Pleasant Meadows. They are pleased with our donations

President Minnie McCormick appointed the nominating committee with Diane Leighton as chairperson and Roxy McGlauflin and Laurie Ducat and budget committee Suzanne Raymond, Lorna Holman, and Anne Cress.

The art show was discussed but no date has been set pending the artists’ finished work. Lorna Holman is in charge this year. The students do incredible work! It will be announced when a date is set. The whoopie pie fundraiser was voted down due to time restraints.

The District Art Show in Newport will be April 27 and local art winners’ works will go for another chance to win prizes. From here they will go on to state show in May

There being no more business the meeting was adjourned, refreshments were enjoyed, and the bidding on the pound packages began. Going once ,going twice, sold to the highest bidder! Lots of fun and laughter as we unwrapped and found delicious fudge. pretty flowers, candles, olives, peanuts, etc. All were happy with their purchases and we raised $265. Next meeting is March 19.
