Northern Light Mayo Hospital to host community CPR training

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Northern Light Mayo Hospital is recognizing American Heart Month by offering a Heartsaver CPR Course on Wednesday, Feb. 21 from noon to 4 p.m. at the hospital in the Sebec/Borestone rooms.

The course is open to anyone 16 years of age and older who is interested in becoming CPR certified, including those who have no prior medical training. It’s a great option for those who need to become CPR-certified to meet job requirements and for anyone who wants to learn new skills that could save a life.

According to the American Heart Association, 436,000 Americans die from cardiac arrest annually, and more than 350,000 cardiac arrests happen outside of the hospital each year. If performed immediately, CPR can double or triple the chance of survival.

Registration is required by Feb. 19 by emailing beweatherbee@northernlight.org. Class size is limited. The $40 fee includes course materials and a CPR card at the completion of the course.
