Northern Light Mayo Hospital welcomes first baby of the new year

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Northern Light Mayo Hospital welcomed a special delivery on Tuesday, Jan. 2: the first baby born in Piscataquis County in 2024.

Lyla Aguirre was born at 9:36 a.m. to Laurel and Nicholas Aguirre of Milo. Lyla weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces at birth. Lyla has two siblings.

“The Mayo Hospital team welcomes Lyla into the world and congratulates Laurel and Nicholas on her arrival,” says Marie Vienneau, FACHE, president, Northern Light Mayo Hospital. “We wish them a healthy and happy year ahead, and we look forward to celebrating many more new arrivals in 2024.”

Northern Light Mayo Hospital staff presented the family with a special basket to celebrate the occasion on behalf of the Northern Light Health Foundation.
