FA’s Jarrett wins 2-mile at indoor meet

ORONO — Foxcroft Academy junior Runner Jarrett earned top honors in the boys’ 2-mile during a Penobscot Valley Conference/Eastern Maine Indoor Track League meet on Dec. 29 at the University of Maine New Balance Field House.

Jarrett ran the two miles in a time of 10 minutes, 51.32 seconds, besting runner-up Bangor High School junior Parker Ashfield’s 11:02.70 by over 11 seconds. Jarrett also placed sixth in the mile at 5:13.42.

Foxcroft senior Zachary Peirce came in sixth in the 800 with his time of 2:29.89.

Jarrett and Peirce combined for 12 points which placed the Ponies seventh among eight point-scoring schools at the meet.

Dexter Regional High School sophomore Brady Jerome finished sixth in the shot put with his throw measuring 37 feet, 0.75 inches. Jerome’s point placed the Tigers eighth in the standings.

In the girls’ meet, Piscataquis Community High School sophomore Ava Goulette had a third-place throw in the shot put at 30-03.

The Pirates were seventh of seven teams at the meet with the six points.
