Ceremony to honor Maine State Police Corp. Wing on Dec. 14

MONSON — The Maine State Police will be honoring Corp. Frank C. Wing at a graveside ceremony in Monson on Thursday, Dec. 14 at 1 p.m. at the lower Hillside Cemetery located on the North Guilford Road.

Corp. Wing was born in Monson to Harry W. and Addie Wing and attended Monson schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with the 5th Infantry and became a Maine State Trooper in the spring of 1928. He was killed in a motorcycle accident while on duty in Millinocket at the age of 26 on Aug. 19, 1928. Each year the Maine troopers honor their fallen comrades and the public is invited to attend this very moving event as they honor one of their own.

After the ceremony the Monson Historical Society is inviting attendees to the Monson Museum for refreshments and conversation. For further information please contact Estella Bennett at 207-876-3073 or Glenn Poole at 207-557-7769.
