Sebasticook Valley Federal Credit Union announces holiday specials

PITTSFIELD – Sebasticook Valley Federal Credit Union, Maine’s community-based credit union with offices in Newport and Pittsfield, has announced a 2023 Christmas Loan Special, in addition to a Holiday Cash Calendar Sweepstakes benefiting Maine Credit Unions Campaign for Ending Hunger. The Christmas Loan Special offers rates as low as 5.25 percent APR (annual percentage rate). This allows eligible members to borrow up to $3,000 and pay over 12 months. The 2023 Christmas Loan Special rate is less than half the current average personal loan interest rate of 11.53% (Bankrate.com as of Nov. 15).

The credit union’s Holiday Cash Calendar Sweepstakes, with proceeds from tickets benefiting the Campaign for Ending Hunger, total $3,000 and will run throughout the entirety of December. Tickets are $10 or three for $25, and members can enter to win daily cash amounts between $20 to $500. The daily winner’s name will be posted on the Sebasticook Valley FCU Facebook page and will also be notified by phone. Winners’ names are resubmitted, with a chance to win up to 31 times. One hundred percent of ticket proceeds are distributed to food pantries, in-school food pantries, snack pack programs and other programs in the Sebasticook Valley region to help those that are food insecure.

“As the holiday season approaches, we recognize the financial strain facing many Maine families,” said Sebasticook Valley FCU President Jim Lemieux. “Our hope is that these specials lighten the burden on members – whether through a lower APR loan, or a fun way to receive extra cash in their pockets through the sweepstakes. At the same time, we want to give back to the greater community, and the sweepstakes are one avenue toward that, allowing us to continue to support the Maine Credit Unions Campaign for Ending Hunger.”
