Global Maine special story time event at Monson Public Library

MONSON — A team of five youth ambassadors will be coming to Monson to lead a special “Global Maine” story time event in collaboration with the Monson Public Library at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15. This event is free to the public and designed for children under the age of 8. The event will include three stories and a craft. All children who attend the event will receive free globally-themed prizes, an arts and craft piece to take home, and their own personal copies of the books.

Global Maine is a project/road trip that empowers Maine youth to increase global engagement in their state. In addition to collaborating with Maine Public Libraries to lead story times, the Youth Ambassadors will visit Maine organizations to investigate how and why people in Maine are globally engaged. Some of the organizations they will visit are the World Affairs Council of Maine, MCD Global Health, and the Climate Change Institute at the University of Maine. Their five-night road trip concludes in Monson with visits to Monson Arts, the Monson Historical Museum, and a special talk from award-winning chef, Marilou Ranta of The Quarry.
