Bicentennial edition of the Black Fly Festival will be Saturday

MILO — The Milo Events and Bicentennial Committees invite you to join us for a day of fun and festivities at the annual Black Fly Festival on Saturday, June 3. The 2023 theme is “Celebrating Milo’s 200 Years!”

The parade will line up at 9:30 a.m. (by Maine Savings and JSI on Park Street) and will proceed at 10 a.m. toward downtown, ending at the Penquis Valley School. No pre-registration needed, just show up and join us. The Penquis Valley High School sophomores will be running the first annual Milo Mile along the parade route starting at 9:45 a.m. Race day registration and bib pick-up will take place at the start line at 140 Park Street starting at 8:30 a.m.

Over 50 vendors and crafters will be at the Veteran’s Memorial Park along the Sebec River from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Live music at the Veteran’s Memorial Park Gazebo by the Josh Guthrie Band starts at 1 p.m. and evening live music from 6-9 p.m. featuring Star City Syndicate. 

A chicken BBQ starts at 11 a.m. at the American Legion Hall, hosted by Joseph P. Chaisson American Legion Post 41.

Fireworks will be over the Sebec River after sunset.
