Conference JV track results

BREWER — Athletes representing the area’s high schools took part in the 2023 Penobscot Valley Conference junior varsity outdoor track and field championship meet on Wednesday, May 24 at the Brewer Community School.

Penquis Valley High School junior Joe Haffenreffer had the highest individual performance among the region’s participants as he came in third in the javelin with a throw measuring 105 feet, 9 inches. He also came in sixth in the 800 in a time of 2 minutes, 23.97 seconds.

Patriot freshman Ethan Lewis finished third in the discus with a throw of 84-03, and Penquis senior Billy Sanborn was 10th in the javelin at exactly 96 feet.

For Piscataquis Community High School, junior Parker Kelley cleared 4-06 in the high jump to come in sixth in the event. Pirate freshman Landon Mckenney was seventh in the 400 at 68.04 seconds.

Dexter Regional High School freshman Brady Jerome had a seventh-place throw in the shot put at 33-00.

In the girls’ JV competition, Penquis senior Ida-Grace Lundin finished as the javelin runner-up with her top throw measuring 71-01.

Penquis junior Layla Chai came in sixth in the 200 at 31.80 seconds. Patriot senior Sky Guzy was 10th in the long jump at 11-10.

PCHS senior Gracie Talbot placed fifth in the shot put and seventh in the discus with respective throws of 24-00.25 and 63-07. Pirate junior Nayara Camaron was right behind Talbot in the discus with an eighth-place throw of 63-01.

Freshman Brookelynn Hunt came in seventh in the 100-meter finals at 14.98 seconds. She also was eighth in the javelin at 59-04.

Two Foxcroft Academy jumpers finished in the top 10 in the long jump standings. Freshman Lillian Makowski was eighth at 12-04 and sophomore Margaret Clark came in ninth at 11-10.50.
