$154K in MaineCF grants will support transportation needs

Programs that assist those with limited or no access to transportation have been awarded a total $154,498 in grants from the Maine Charity Foundation Fund of the Maine Community Foundation and from donors with advised funds at MaineCF.

The grants will support a range of organizations and projects, including volunteer transportation programs and food delivery services across the state.

Recent grantees include:

From the 2023 Maine Charity Foundation Fund Grants $10,000 to Penquis to provide transportation for adults over 60 in Piscataquis and Penobscot counties.

From donor-advised funds, $5,000 to the Piscataquis Regional Food Center of Dover-Foxcroft to increase the number of home deliveries for individuals unable to reach a food pantry.

The Maine Charity Foundation was established in 1921 and transferred to MaineCF in 1993. The fund supports charitable and educational projects within the state. An advisory committee sets and reviews annually the criteria and priorities for grantmaking. The next grant cycle opens on June 15.
