Oratory speaker from Western Maine wins local American Legion Posts contest

MILO — Department of Maine American Legion asked Posts such as Post 41 in Milo and Post 92 in Brownville and others around the state on Jan. 14 to host extra students from other post districts when conducting their annual district and local competitions. These are for the pending state oratorical finals on Saturday, Feb. 11 to be held this year at Thomas College in Waterville.

Alecssander Freitas arrived from Naples and Lake Region High School to present the same before an audience and a 5-member committee of judges requested and organized by the post gavel club committee, at the Milo Post home on West Main Street. The Sebago Lake region student was awarded an equal amount of money from the host post and the district for a commendable meeting of Department criteria in a two-part session, formal and extemporaneous.
