GFWC Miosac Club Christmas news

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The GFWC Miosac Club’s Christmas party took place on Dec. 6 at the beautiful home of V.P. Wendy Hutchins. Fifteen members attended.

As members arrived, they brought their sweet or savory dishes into the kitchen. Everyone visited, walked around to see the beautiful decorations, and then stood in various groups to talk and laugh.

Anne Cress led grace.

Members filled their plates and went into the dining room where most could sit together. Many stories were told by many at the table.

CHRISTMAS PARTY — Attendees at the GFWC Miosac Club Christmas party included, from left, Wendy Hutchins, Roxy McGlauflin, and Diane Leighton.

Diane Leighton gave everyone a bell on a red string. She then told a story about the bell, and started the game. If you heard someone say “Christmas”, you could take their bell which brought about many funny moments. Laurie Ducat ended up with the most.

President Minnie McCormick explained another game. Everybody got a stocking, they couldn’t look inside. When it was your turn, you were supposed to pretend you were 6 years old and show your feelings — happiness, sadness, etc. Some liked their gifts, some not so much. In the end, all were happy. No one got a bunch of coal. McCormick did get walnuts though.

Attendees had an opportunity to see the gifts purchased by the Miosac Club for Kiwanis Christmas for two children. They also viewed the items donated to go on the Masonic Christmas tree for the raffle.

In closing, they sang “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” before heading home after a wonderful, delightful evening.

Jan. 3 is the next meeting at the Congregational Church when there will be potluck. Hostesses are Brenda Quiet and Roxy McGlauflin.
