Holiday cheer at Dyer’s Hope House

MILO — This year, Dyer’s Hope House Food Pantry is tucking the holiday spirit into pretty home-made stockings. They will be given to clients who visit the food pantry throughout the month of December.

Two local quilting groups, which include Dyer’s Hope House Board member Barbara Campbell, donated their time, fun fabrics, and talents to create these stockings. They also provided some of the nifty items to be found inside. Lee Worcester, from Worcester’s Wild Blueberries in Orneville, joined in the fun by donating 100 little bottles of Maine Wild Blueberry Honey. They are a perfect size to fit into the stockings. Trelba Rollins quilted some beautiful potholders and a little, bespectacled, food pantry elf prepared almost 100 Christmas Cards to give to clients along with their stockings and extra goodies.

During the month of November, food pantry volunteers filled the stockings that were made for large or small families or individuals, all of whom may visit Dyer’s Hope House, on a monthly basis, if their budget has fallen short at the grocery store.

Dyer’s Hope House is located at 17 Park Street in Milo. Hours are Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. They will be closed Dec. 29. Contact 207-279-1614 for more information. Donations may be sent to Dyer’s Hope House, PO Box 334, Milo, Maine 04463.
