Foxcroft and Dexter runners finish in top 25 at Old Town

OLD TOWN — Foxcroft Academy sophomore Runner Jarrett finished 20th at the 72nd Old Town Sectional Invitational on Monday afternoon. Jarrett covered the 5K course in a time of 19 minutes, 58.09 seconds for the 20th fastest performance among a field of 77 entrants.

Pony junior Zachary Peirce placed 47th with his time of 22:47.37. Classmate Jorgen Halvorsen came in 53rd with a time of 23:19.96.

Dexter Regional High School senior David Race was 64th at 25:59.02, and senior Allen Gatchell finished 76th at 33:42.16.

Mount Desert Island High School senior Sam York won the race in Old Town by about 22 seconds in 17:39.75.

He helped MDI finish first among 10 full teams with a score of 53 points. John Bapst Memorial High School of Bangor was second at 60 points and Ellsworth High School was third with 101.

In the girls’ race, Dexter freshman Annabelle Peakes ran the course in 25:45.72. Peakes placed 21st among a field of 53 runners.

Tiger senior Annika King came in 25th with her time of 25:59.63. Senior Emma Alexander finished 43rd at 28:54.59.

Houlton High School/Greater Houlton Christian Academy cooperative sophomore Teanne Ewings won the race in 19:46.13, edging the 19:47.68 for MDI sophomore Amelia Vandongen.

MDI won the girls competition with 36 points. Houlton/Greater Houlton Christian came in second with 43 and Hermon High School rounded out the top three of seven with 109 points.
