AMC Maine invites visitors to Little Lyford Lodge on Aug. 6

The Maine Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club invites visitors from the local area and beyond to join in a fun-filled event at Little Lyford Lodge on Saturday, Aug. 6. The day will feature outdoor walks, hikes, paddles on the pond, tours of the facility, a brown bag lunch, and a chance to gather with friends for refreshments at the beginning and end of the day. Visitors are welcome to bring bikes appropriate for dirt roads and trails. The distance to Little Lyford Lodge from Greenville is about 16 miles.

For more than 140 years, Little Lyford Lodge & Cabins has provided visitors an authentic outdoor experience in the  Moosehead Lake region offering a spectacular location on 100,000 acres of forestland permanently conserved by  AMC. 

At the event on Aug. 6, kayaks and canoes will be provided as well as PFDs. Guests may choose to bring bikes  to explore the trails surrounding the lodge. Both hikes and easy walks will be offered. You may choose to walk  around the nearby pond on the “Pond Loop” trail, or explore the interactive stations along Nation’s Nature Trail. Near Little Lyford is a trail up Laurie’s Ledge and Indian Mountain featuring spectacular views. For more information about the event, email weekendgetaway@amcmaine.org.  

To register, please call 603-466-2727 and sign up to attend as a day visitor for AMC Maine’s “Weekend Getaway” event on Aug. 6. Please use group number 603687. There will be a $10 fee to cover food. All guests will be given a tote bag full of AMC mementos to take home. Once you register, we will email you more details including driving directions to Little Lyford Camps and a menu with lunch choices.
