Free theater workshops for older adults

The Center Theatre in Dover-Foxcroft has announced that they are holding a series of free theater workshops for older adults in Greenville and Dover-Foxcroft. The workshops, which will be led by director, playwright and theater educator Jeri Pitcher, will take place over four Wednesdays in each community with a fifth session scheduled in Dover-Foxcroft so the attendees can share their work with each other.

According to Patrick Myers, the executive director of the Center Theatre, the workshops will be an opportunity for older members of the community to share their creativity and life experiences, “Jeri is a wonderful teacher who has worked with the theatre before on other programs. She’ll be working with participants to create original scenes and monologues. Participants can expect plenty of laughs and opportunities to hone their acting, voice and movement skills.”

Registration is free, but space is limited so those who are interested should register online at www.centertheatre.org, by calling the Center Theatre at 207-564-8943, or stopping by the theatre box office at 20 East Main Street between noon and 7 p.m. daily. Registrants should be able to attend all four workshops in their community and the final day of sharing in Dover-Foxcroft. The workshops have been made possible through the generous support of the Maine Arts Commission.

The Center Theatre is a 501(c)3 non-profit with a mission to make arts, education, and entertainment accessible to our rural communities to engage and inspire.
