GFWC/Miosac Club news

DOVER-FOXCROFT – The GFWC/Miosac Club met March 1 at the home of Minnie McCormick decorated with Mardi Gras and St. Patrick’s Day items. Eight members braved the snowstorm for the pound party.

President Suzanne Raymond called the meeting to order and dispensed with a formal opening due to the bad weather. Diane Leighton gave the report of the last meeting with no errors. Treasurer Anne Cress gave her report with little activity since the last meeting. Brenda Quiet, noted the next meeting will be March 15 at the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church. Hostesses will be Cress and Clara Lusier. McCormick is in charge of the program and will be making May baskets.

Raymond noted the GFWC District Art Meeting will be in Newport and handed out registration papers. She also discussed committees and the budget was filled, others will be filled at a later date. 

Roxy McGlauflin, Brenda Quiet and Leighton will do the Community Calendar for 2023-25.

Raymond adjourned the meeting and took over as auctioneer. Members brought prettily wrapped packages as close to a pound as possible to be bid on.

As bidding went on candy, kitchen items. and bath items were sold to the highest bidder. A total of $136 was raised for Pine Tree Camp in memory of Charelle Goodine who spent many summers there. Pine Tree Camp is also GFWCMaine President Carol Jarvais’ special project.

Members enjoyed refreshments served by Betsey Ryan and assisted by McCormick.
