Pine Tree Hospice offering grief facilitator training

Do you have a desire to help others? As Pine Tree Hospice looks forward to starting grief support groups for those that have experienced a loss, we are looking for people who would like to help others in our communities by becoming facilitators.

For people who have suffered the loss of a loved one, having the ability to talk with others is crucial, especially as the pandemic has kept many people isolated. Support groups are a vitally important part of managing grief; in a support group, members can share how they feel in a safe, nonjudgmental group, listen to the stories of other people, and learn helpful coping skills.

To offer local support groups Pine Tree Hospice needs to train a group of facilitators. The first part of training will take place on March 15 from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and March 23 from 9 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. with lunch included both days. Training will be held at the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church and cover the nuts and bolts of facilitating support groups, learning about various types of grief, effects of grief, coping strategies, and communication in groups. The second part of training will take place at the beginning of May.
