4 more Mainers have died and another 1,924 coronavirus cases reported across the state

Four more Mainers have died and another 1,924 coronavirus cases reported across the state, Maine health officials said Friday.
Friday’s report brings the total number of coronavirus cases in Maine to 187,697, according to the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention. That’s up from 185,773 on Friday.
Of those, 138,270 have been confirmed positive, while 49,427 were classified as “probable cases,” the Maine CDC reported.
The four more deaths from Androscoggin, Cumberland and Hancock and York counties bring the statewide death toll to 1,828.
The number of coronavirus cases diagnosed in the past 14 days statewide is 13,472. This is an estimation of the current number of active cases in the state, as the Maine CDC is no longer tracking recoveries for all patients. That’s up from 12,821 on Friday.
The new case rate statewide Friday was 14.38 cases per 10,000 residents, and the total case rate statewide was 1,402.39.
The most cases have been detected in Mainers younger than 20, while Mainers over 80 years old account for the largest portion of deaths. More cases have been recorded in women and more deaths in men.
So far, 4,113 Mainers have been hospitalized at some point with COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus.
Of those, XXX are currently hospitalized, with XX in critical care and XX on a ventilator. Overall, XX out of 372 critical care beds and XXX out of 328 ventilators are available
The total statewide hospitalization rate on Friday was 30.73 patients per 10,000 residents.
Cases have been reported in Androscoggin (19,002), Aroostook (8,841 ), Cumberland (39,052), Franklin (4,601), Hancock (5,446 ), Kennebec (17,885 ), Knox (4,689), Lincoln (4,011), Oxford (9,141), Penobscot (20,989), Piscataquis (2,330), Sagadahoc (3,906), Somerset (7,780), Waldo (4,652), Washington (3,234) and York (32,114) counties. Information about where an additional 24 cases were reported wasn’t immediately available.|
An additional 1,118 vaccine doses were administered in the previous 24 hours. As of Friday, 981,309 Mainers are fully vaccinated, or about 76.6 percent of eligible Mainers, according to the Maine CDC.
As of Friday morning, the coronavirus had sickened 77,439,456 people in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as caused 915,651 deaths, according to the Johns Hopkins University of Medicine.
