12 more Mainers have died and another 1,391 coronavirus cases reported since the weekend

Twelve more Mainers have died and another 1,391 coronavirus cases reported across the state since the weekend, Maine health officials said Tuesday.
Tuesday’s report brings the total number of coronavirus cases in Maine to 182,401, according to the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention. That’s up from 181,010 on Saturday.
Of those, 134,382 have been confirmed positive, while 48,019 were classified as “probable cases,” the Maine CDC reported.
Five men and seven women have succumbed to the virus, bringing the statewide death toll to 1,816.
One was from Androscoggin County, three from Cumberland County, one from Franklin County, one from Kennebec County, one from Oxford County, three from Penobscot County, one from Waldo County and one from York County.
Of those, three were 80 or older, two were in their 70s, five in their 60s, one in their 40s and one in their 30s.
The number of coronavirus cases diagnosed in the past 14 days statewide is 13,927. This is an estimation of the current number of active cases in the state, as the Maine CDC is no longer tracking recoveries for all patients. That’s down from 14,111 on Monday.
The new case rate statewide Tuesday was 10.39 cases per 10,000 residents, and the total case rate statewide was 1,362.82.
The most cases have been detected in Mainers younger than 20, while Mainers over 80 years old account for the largest portion of deaths. More cases have been recorded in women and more deaths in men.
So far, 4,049 Mainers have been hospitalized at some point with COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus. Information about those who are currently hospitalized wasn’t immediately available.
The total statewide hospitalization rate on Tuesday was 30.25 patients per 10,000 residents.
Cases have been reported in Androscoggin (18,365), Aroostook (8,695), Cumberland (38,153), Franklin (4,472), Hancock (5,320), Kennebec (17,503), Knox (4,325), Lincoln (3,854), Oxford (8,884), Penobscot (20,508), Piscataquis (2,295), Sagadahoc (3,797), Somerset (7,639), Waldo (4,510), Washington (3,178) and York (30,901) counties. Information about where an additional two cases were reported wasn’t immediately available.
An additional 842 vaccine doses were administered in the previous 24 hours. As of Tuesday, 979,433 Mainers are fully vaccinated, or about 76.5 percent of eligible Mainers, according to the Maine CDC.
As of Tuesday morning, the coronavirus had sickened 76,853,612 people in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as caused 905,544 deaths, according to the Johns Hopkins University of Medicine.
