FA’s Reed wins high and long jumps

ORONO – Foxcroft Academy and Dexter Regional High School closed out the 2021-22 regular season with the final Penobscot Valley Conference/Eastern Maine Indoor Track League meet before the conference championships, at the University of Maine New Balance Field House on Feb. 5.

The Pony boys scored 36 points to place fifth among a field of nine schools, while Dexter was ninth with two points.

Foxcroft senior Jacob Reed earned top honors in both the high jump and the long jump. Reed cleared the bar at a height of 5 feet, 10 inches to win the high jump by four inches.

In the long jump, Reed achieved a top distance of 18-02.75 inches. This gave him first place by nine inches.

Reed also finished third in the triple jump at 36-01.75.

Pony freshman Runner Jarrett had the third-best time in the 2-mile at 11 minutes, 38.71 seconds. Junior Kyle Jankunas placed fifth in the long jump at 16–00.75.

The Foxcroft 4×200 relay team – made up of juniors Alvaro Diaz, Jankunas, Douglas Rowe and sophomore Zachary Peirce – came in fifth with a time of 1:47.80.

For Dexter, senior Miles Gadwah earned a fifth-place finish in the 55-meter hurdle finals. Gadwah had a time of 10.27 seconds.

In the girls’ meet, Foxcroft compiled six points to place eighth in a field of eight schools.

Junior Olivia Hill had a fifth-place throw in the shot put, measuring 29-05.50.

The Pony girls 4×200 relay was fifth – fourth among point-scoring teams – at 2:15.80. The squad was comprised of seniors Rebekah Demers and Grace Carlson, sophomore Amara Perfect, and senior Kasey Howell.
